PENTICTON WRITERS� CONFERENCE 2004

WRITING CONTEST RULES (Please read carefully)

FIRST PRIZE IN EACH CATEGORY: One�on�one Breakfast with the Presenter of that Genre

        Writing Contest is only opened to registrants who register for the Early Bird Special (payment in full) to the conference on or before August 31, 2004.

        Entrants must attend conference to be eligible.

        Each entry should consist of a title page, containing the author�s name, address, phone number, email (if applicable) title of the work and category.  The authors name should not appear anywhere on the manuscript.

        Manuscripts must be typed, double-spaced, on 8 � x 11 white paper using 12 points, with one inch margins.

        Categories are: FICTION (general or crime/murder mystery), NON-FICTION, YOUNG ADULT, SCREENPLAY, ROMANCE, AND POETRY.

         Submit TWO copies of the FIRST FIVE PAGES of your fiction, non-fiction, young adult, or romance and TWO copies of a ONE PAGE (single-spaced) SYNOPSIS.

        Submit TWO copies of the FIRST FIVE PAGES (according to industry standards) of your screenplay and TWO copies of a ONE PAGE (single-spaced) SYNOPSIS.

        Submit TWO copies FIVE PAGES OF POETRY (one poem per page).

        Entry must be original, unpublished and/or un-produced submission, which had not been submitted to our previous conferences.

        Entry must not exceed the page limit, as this will result in disqualification.

        Only one entry per registration.  However, registrants may enter more than one category providing an extra fee of $25.00 is received with each entry.

** REMINDER:

Entry/Entries must be postmarked by August 31, 2004 and mailed with registration form. Entries receive a critique from PWAP.  Where applicable, finalists will be judged by presenters. Categories with less than FIVE entries will be eliminated with notification.  All manuscripts will be returned after conference.  These maybe collected at the close of the conference on Sunday. Registrants are responsible for bringing an extra copy for the one-on-one pitch sessions.
