THE CLEM BATTYE LEGACY AWARD CONTEST

Mr. Clem Battye, poet and author, died at age 99, leaving a small legacy to Penticton Writers and Publishers.  Using the legacy PWAP started an annual writers� conference in Mr. Battye�s honour.  The Clem Battye Legacy Award Contest was established to offer emerging writers an opportunity to attend the annual 3-day conference.  Information on past and present conference can be viewed at www.penwriters.com

To enter: All genres accepted including poetry.  Entry must be original work, which has not been previously published, or produced or entered in our contests.

Send a cover letter listing author�s name, address, phone and email information.  Author�s name should not appear on the work for blind judging.   

Include the first five (5) pages of your manuscript (double-spaced, 12 points font), on white paper 8 � x 11 and a two page synopsis (single-spaced). Poets send five (5) poems (one per page). 

You may enter as many entries or categories you wish.  However cheque/money order, in the amount of $10.00, must accompany each entry.  If desired, please include an SASE for critique.

Contest closes July 31, 2004.  Entries must be post mark on or before closing date.

One winner will be awarded One Free Registration plus 2 nights accommodation to the PWAP Annual Writers� Conference October 1-3, 2004 (no substitutes).  Winner will be notified by August 15, 2004.

Make cheque/money order payable to PWAP.
