PWAP Champions/Raise a Reader

Youth Write Camp - July 11- 13, 2008

Penticton Writers and Publisher Young Champions Program, together with Penticton Herald?s CanWest Raise a Reader, invites area teachers to submit the names of the top five (5) readers in their school for a weekend camp for young readers and writers.

Elementary, Middle and High Schools from Summerland to Osoyoos are invited to reward their top readers age 8 ? 17 with this opportunity to brain storm with authors, poets and publishers at the first Youth Write Camp to be held from July 11- 13, 2008.

Criteria:

Students must have or is participating in a Read a Thon within the school.
Students must be attending an Elementary, Middle or High School in the South Okanagan.
Teachers monitor the number of books read.
Teachers or schools submit the top 5 readers.
Parents with home schooled students may join ? please sign up with their program at (yasie1@shaw.ca)

PWAP Champions/Raise a Reader Program offers those chosen an all expenses paid weekend at the First Youth Write Camp, where industry professionals like ?
Dr. Lyle Weis. YA author and poet;
Mr. Lee Edward Fodi, Fantasy author and illustrator;
Jo Beverley, New York Times bestselling romance author;
Mr. Brian Hades, sci-fi/fantasy publisher of Edge Publishing;
and others - will guide students through the creative process.
