The 2008 Clem Battye Legacy Award Writing Contest


The co-founders of Penticton Writers and Publishers are pleased to announce the 2008 Clem Battye Legacy Award Writing Contest opened to Short Fiction and Poetry.


Contest Details:
Open to writers of Short Fiction (5 pages) and Poets (5 poems –one poem per page).

Mr. Clement Battye, author and poet, died at age 99. In his honour The Clem Battye Legacy Award was established in 2001, aimed at offering emerging writers and poets an opportunity to showcase their talents.

The two winners will each receive $100.00 and will be asked to submit winning entry via email. Each winner will grant PWAP one time rights only to publish their work on the PWAP website at www.penwriters.com Members of PWAP not eligible to enter.

To Enter:
Please send a cover page listing author's name, address, phone and email and a one paragraph bio, along with your short fiction (5 pages) and/or 5 poems (one poem per page).
Manuscript must meet industry standards = printed white paper, double-spaced, 12 points font, page numbers.
Author's name should not appear on the work. Money Order or cheque must be included with all entries, payable to PWAP Clem Battye Contest.
You may enter other genres with fee. Please include an SASE for judges’ critiques and return of your entry.

Deadline for entries is July 31, 2008.
Winners will be announced September 30, 2008.
Entry Fee: $10.
Prizes: Best Short Fiction (5 pages) receives $100.00 and Best Poems (5 pages) receives $100.00.
Open to emerging writers and poets.
Blind judging done by co-founders and members of Penticton Writers and Publishers.
