Call for Submissions
CONTEST DEADLINE EXTENDED TO MAY 16TH 2008.
The Penticton Writers and Publishers announce the 3rd Young Okanagan Creative Writers and Poets Contest.
Contest opened to young writers or poets age 10 – 17, residing in the North, Central or South Okanagan. Entrants must be 10 or 17 by January 1, 2008.
Two categories: Short Fiction and Poetry.
Two age groups: 10 - 13 and 14 -17
PLEASE FOLLOW ALL GUIDELINES:
Short Fiction Story or Poetry manuscripts must be typed, double-spaced, 12 points font, page numbered, printed on one side only. Short Fiction entry must not exceed a maximum of 1500 words or 5 pages (250 words per page).
Poem entry must not exceed 5 pages (one per page or combination equaling 5 pages).
Each entry must include a signed cover letter stating the writer’s or poet’s name, address (include email), phone number, age and school or home-school. Please include the name, address and phone number of a parent.
Writer’s name should not appear on manuscript. You may enter multiple categories.
Please enclose an SASE (self-addressed-stamped-envelope) for the judges’ critiques!

Contest Prizes:
First Place Short Fiction and Poetry - $ 125.00 both age groups
Second Place Short Fiction and Poetry - $75.00 both age groups
Third Place Short Fiction and Poetry - $50.00 both age groups
First place winners in each category and age group will have their entry printed in the Okanagan Valley Sunday News.
Winners will be invited to read their entry, details to be announced.
